How to become an independent kitesurfer - what to pay attention to in lessons to self sufficient
When you're learning to kitesurf, you're so pumped to get out on the water that you dont really think about all the knowledge you need to pick up to get to the point where you are totally independent or self sufficient. In lessons, most people only pay attention to the skills needed to get riding, and they ignore the safety skills and rigging skills. Today is an outline of what to pay attention to in lessons so that you're more equipped to ride independently when lessons are over.

      I just got my heads on an ikea bag, and I need to do a comparison. It’s definitely thinner than this red bag I’m using, which makes me nervous, but I’ve heard about a lot of people using them!

    • @j.miguel6193
      @j.miguel6193 7 днів тому

      Yeah bro, as long the bar is on the sand the kite makes not strength whatsoever... just put a tree stick to anchor it more to the sand 👍

  • @renatoamorimtorres7915
    @renatoamorimtorres7915 10 днів тому

    I dont recomend. Tried this with exactly same bag today. I filled the bag with sand almost to the top. I tried with 12 m kite and the wind was not more than 20km/h. Not much pull at all. The kite selflaunch before i could reach thr anchor. The bag with sand got dragged a few meters in the meantime. Even you can make it quite heavy with tons of sand it still does not stop it from being dragged

    • @erbartlett
      @erbartlett 10 днів тому

      It’s definitely not fool proof. You have to put the bag in a hole/ depression to keep it from sliding. I’ve never had it slide and I’ve gone out it in higher winds

    • @renatoamorimtorres7915
      @renatoamorimtorres7915 10 днів тому

      I will try again another day. I will also use another anchor for the leash so if it get dragged it depower the kite

    some short tips, from a year long beginner. if you can't get upwind and keeping speed after the water start, just lean back more (best tip I got). if you don't have flat water near you (i don't), just start using the waves as ramps, you'll get used to making a little air.

    Should you go aluminum or go for carbon at first? Also lessons and rent then buy a more advanced setup? How long until you get sick of the beginner setup, if at all.

    • @erbartlett
      @erbartlett Місяць тому

      I am still having fun on my beginner aluminum setup and it’s been almost 3 years. Keep in mind you can change wings and progress with different wing shapes and speeds. For me, the aluminum setup was ~700 usd, and the carbon was closer to 2-3,000usd, so it didn’t make sense to jump straight to carbon. You will probably want to upgrade from a beginner board after a year (depending on how frequently you get sessions). So I’d go aluminum in most cases, and upgrade wings and boards as you progress.

      @@erbartlett I don’t remember if you talked about this, but it sounds like an e-foil lesson makes it easier to learn board control. Also, are you trying wing foil at all? In New England, beach access is always tough. People are very uptight however with wing foiling, you can go to any beach anytime.

    Incredible how this capitalist obsession with considering every aspects of life as a challenge that needs to be made profitable by going always faster and achieving always more things in a very limited amount of time... has overwhelmed the spirit of surfing. Which to my opinion consist in feeling connected to nature and your body.. I guess you record all king of datas from your sessions and process them on excel to make cross dynamic tables out of it?? ( by the way how much seconds did you need for your first proper backrool? something like 1008000? Oh my god only fucking loosers/ average peoples send a backroll at 1 008 000 seconds. you HAVE TO send it at 765 000 seconds of practices ( Launching time included)...

    Great informative video. Thanks. My kiteboarding journey has been much slower than yours . . . for many reasons that I won't get into. Friends of mine have tried to get into kiteboarding and given up. It can be an expensive sport. It is also frustrating at times. You are at the mercy of the wind . . . which can be fickle. But the beauty of the sport keeps me motivated. I love playing in, and with, nature. I am resigned to being the "world's slowest progressing kiteboarder". Yesterday my kite inverted and in the ensuing chaos I lost my board. But I am not giving up. It really is about the journey for me. And I am confident the journey will be worth it. My best advice for getting into kiteboarding: find a good kiteboarder friend with a jetski who can watch over you and get you back home.

      All of the mounts have a “lock” side, and a side where the lines can slide through to accommodate the safety line. 1. Tip: not move your feet for swimming or bodydrag to prevent hitting the foil underwater. 2. Tip: front foot pressure. While waterstarting roll forward. Don’t stretch front leg. 3. Tip: feet have to stay flat on the board. No edging. Your body center should be in line with the mast. Than don’t give up. 2. or 3. day maybe you want to throw away the foil. But after 1 week you can Foil.
